What we Believe
Rooted in scripture, centred on the teachings of Jesus
The Trinity
We believe that the Lord is one, yet exists as three distinct, united persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Lord’s divine name as revealed in the Bible is YHWH (Exodus 3:15). Jesus the Messiah is the Son of God who took on flesh when he entered into humanity (Deuteronomy 6:4 ; Matthew 28:19; John 1:14).
Salvation
We believe the only way one is saved is by believing on the Lord Yeshua, that he was crucified for our sins, and rose again on the third day (John 3:16; Romans 10:9). Thus, Salvation is by grace through faith and not of works (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Obedience
We believe that after being saved, we keep God’s commandments in our love for him (John 14:15). In this sense we keep the commandments because we are saved, not to be saved. This obedience to God is a result of a transformed life in Messiah after receiving the Holy Spirit/Ruach HaKodesh (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Torah Observance
While observance of the Torah is not required for salvation, we believe that one of God’s intentions for us in the new Covenant, is to learn about his perfect Law, the Torah (Psalm 19:7; Jeremiah 31:31-33; Matthew 5:17-21).
By understanding and observing the commandments of God’s Holy Law, we gain deeper insight in how to Love God and Love our Neighbor, as the entire Torah rests on these 2 commandments (Matthew 22:40). We affirm that the First Century Church continued to observe the Torah after the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
The Church
We believe that gentiles who believe in the Lord Jesus, have been grafted into Israel (Romans 11:17-21 ; Ephesians 2:11-17). Followers of Yeshua thus are no longer considered Gentiles but children of the promise, and the seed of Abraham (Galatians 3:16) .
The Church is not separate from Israel, and do not replace Israel as God’s people. Israel remain the Covenant nation , which consists of the entire assembly (church) of the Lord, whether Jew or Gentile. We affirm that this is the way of the First Century Church.
The Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh)
After his glorification in heaven, the Lord Yeshua sent the Holy Spirit to his disciples. The Holy Spirit is the comforter who guides us into the Truth (John 14:15-19). It is through the Holy Spirit that we as followers of the Messiah are born again, washed, and regenerated (Titus 3:5). With the Holy Spirit living within us, we are able to follow God and walk in righteousness.
